iii. Attend a weekly coaching session
iv. Provide the young Afghan boys with equipment (Bats, Pads, Gloves, Helmet etc)

The Cricket Programme won't only develop Cricket skills, but it will also be a huge support
mechanism. who can't speak English and who are without family support can find themselves
isolated, depressed and very vulnerable. Using Cricket as a vehicle for engagement, it is hoped
that social inclusion and mental health issues can be overcome. Importantly, the Afghan boys
will be made to feel welcome and part of a well respected sporting club.

Newport Cricket Club Chairman, Mike Knight commented, 'the Afghan boys who have benefitted are
passionate about cricket. They have travelled from the other side of the world and come to the Club
and
have shown so much enthusiasm towards the game. Cricket is a universal language and
Newport Cricket Club
will do its best to integrate them with our existing members and make their
stay as enjoyable as possible.'
