Andrew Salter - Newport CC's Allocated Player From Glamorgan

February 2015

Newport Cricket Club received a great boost with the news that Andrew Salter
will be their Glamorgan CCC allocated player for 2015.

Salter who has played for England at U17 & U19 levels, is a highly promising young offspinner
who has been tipped to fill the boots of Robert Croft at Glamorgan. He could not have made a
better start after taking a wicket with his first ball on his County Championship debut in
August 2013 at Swansea; a feat not achieved by a Glamorgan player for 56 years and has only
happened three times in the club's history.

Salter played 3 games for Newport in 2014, and was instrumental in helping the club to win
2 of the 3 matches he played in with great contributions. He scored 163 runs in just 3 innings
averaging 54.33, scoring 56 against Swansea and 69 against Port Talbot. While bowling, he
claimed a match winning 5-36 against Port Talbot, and bowled a superb spell of 10 overs
claiming 1-15 against Swansea.

Newport will hope that he can perform equally as well when available to play for them in 2015.

Club captain, Mike Clayden enthused, 'Andrew is a top performer at County level, and an
outstanding player. When he is available for us it will be fantastic and a great boost for our
young team. Although we wish him great success at Glamorgan, it will be great to see him
in the Newport team'
