Newport Cricket Club Mourns the Loss of John Blake.
Unfortunately, after a lengthy illness John Blake sadly passed away on Wednesday, February 4th
with wife Sally and son Kieron at his bedside at The Mater Hospital in Brisbane.
John and family emigrated to Brisbane, Australia in the early 2000's, living a very happy life. He was a
true stalwart of the club and worked tirelessly for the benefit of the club over many years
during the club's days at Rodney Parade. John was Captain of Newport 2nd team, which won the
Western League 2nd X1 Championship in 1975 & 76.
He was also selected for the Wales over 50 team that toured the West Indies in 1985.
Our deepest sympathy goes out to Sally, Kieron and families.
RIP John.
