Newport Cricket Club is delighted to announce that Becky Thomas has 
been appointed as Head of the Club’s Women & Girls section.

Becky Thomas joins Newport Cricket Club following several years with Cricket Wales,
where she played a pivotal role in the growth of women’s and girls’ cricket across
South East Wales. During her time with Cricket Wales, Becky led the development of
highly successful Women’s Hardball and Softball Cricket Leagues, alongside establishing
Girls’ junior age-group softball competitions and Girls’ hardball leagues.

Her work was instrumental in driving a significant rise in participation, creating clear and
sustainable pathways for girls to enter and progress in the game.

Newport Cricket Club has long been recognised as a leader in women’s and girls’ cricket,
and Becky brings a wealth of experience, energy and insight to further strengthen the Club’s
Women & Girls section.

On her appointment, Becky said:
I’m delighted to join Newport Cricket Club as the inaugural Head of Women’s and Girls’ Cricket.
My focus will be on developing a strong and inclusive women’s and girls’ section.  I’m passionate
about supporting player engagement, development and creating opportunities for players to enter
the game, progress with confidence and feel a real sense of belonging at the club
.’

Club Chairman Mike Knight added:
“Becky has done a fantastic job in developing women’s and girls’ cricket in South East Wales. As a
club, we’ve benefitted greatly from the work she’s done previously, and we’re delighted that she
has chosen to join Us. Her commitment and enthusiasm will be key as we continue our
ambition to make Newport Cricket Club the place to be for women and girls’ cricket.
