Newport Cricket Club's Jack Hope-Bell has been rewarded for his fantastic performances 
in recent seasons, with a Glamorgan, Rookie Contract for 2026.

18 year old Jack has played for Newport Cricket Club, since the age of 7, playing in all the 
club's Junior age group teams. 
Newport Cricket Club Chairman, Mike Knight commented, ''Everyone at the club is delighted 
to hear the news that Jack has earned a Rookie Contract with Glamorgan for 2026. He has always 
had a bat or ball in his hands from a very young age, playing competitive cricket on the 
boundary edge, whilst watching his brothers , Sam and Ben out of the corner of his eye. He has 
made tremendous progress in recent years and the contract is fully deserved.'

In 2024, Jack gained a 6th Form Cricket scholarship at Clifton School, in spite of his school 
commitments he topped the Club's Batting Averages in 2024, scoring 389 runs in just 8 completed 
innings. He scored his maiden century at any level, in the last match of the 2024 season, scoring 
114 against Pontarddulais, and averaged 48.63. in the SWPCL.

In 2025 he scored 204 SWPCL runs in just 6 completed innings, top scoring with 91 against 
Swansea, averaging 34.  for the season

His outstanding batting for Glamorgan u19's and the Glamorgan 2nd X1 resulted in him 
being selected for the England U19 team, where he played 2 matches against Bangladesh. He 
narrowly missed out on selection for the U19 World Cup, but he will be eligible again in 2026.
Jack's time will surely come!


 Jack is also a fantastic fielder and bowls off spin. He is currently spending a Winter in 
Australia playing in Melbourne and will join up with Glamorgan in March for pre- season 
training.
